Emily & James’ wedding at The Elvetham Hotel

Another unexpectedly hot day in October for Emily & James’ wedding at Swallowfield Church and The Elvetham Hotel in Hampshire. Fortunately as we do wedding photography at The Elvetham very often it’s a venue we know vey well and we were able to find shady areas to allow the wedding guests to cool off and to look their best in the photographs.

We used the fantastic avenue of trees at The Elvetham as a backdrop for some wonderful wedding photographs of the wedding party and Emily & James themselves, before retiring indoors to capture the wedding breakfast room decorations, table layouts and other key details of the day. After the speeches and cake cutting we photographed Emily & James’ first dance and then set up for the tricky challenge of the fireworks later in the evening to round off a perfect, if a little hot, day!

Charlotte & Stuart’s wedding at Loseley Park

The weather is not normally so hot and sunny at the end of September and contrary to popular belief this does not always make it easy to be a wedding photographer, even at a venue such as Loseley Park. Bright sunshine creates huge differences between bright sunny areas and dark shades ones especially where the light is streaming through windows into dark rooms. As ever having 2 photographers in different locations and knowing how to make the best of such a situation meant we managed to get great results in challenging lighting conditions.

Outside in the gardens of Loseley Park we were able to use the shade of the mature trees to provide some respite from the heat of the sun and get some great photos of the families and friends gathered for Charlotte & Stuart’s wedding. The wedding breakfast in the barn went down very well and we got some great shots of the speeches and the couple’s first dance together.

Charlotte & Paul’s wedding at Lainston House

We photographed Charlotte’s sister Katie’s wedding 2 years ago and it’s always nice to be invited back to do the wedding photographs of another family member as it means you must have gone a great job the first time around!

We met both Charlotte & Paul getting ready at Lainston House near Winchester. Paul headed up to the village church in nearby Sparsholt via the local village pub and Charlotte made her way to the church in a traditional carriage pulled by 2 magnificent shire horses. The advantage of having 2 photographers at the event is obvious as we were able to capture events at both locations at the same time.

The vicar was not in favour of our taking photographs in church but we were able to persuade her that our discrete and professional approach would not cause any distractions to the religious service and main event itself. After the service Charlotte & Paul rode in the carriage back to Lainston House for the wedding reception.

We took a small number of group wedding photos in the walled garden at Lainston House and then a great shot of the entire wedding party at the front of the house before they retired to the barn for their wedding breakfast. We captured images of the room, table layouts and the speeches – great for getting those great reaction shots of the “I can’t believe they just told that story” moments. Then Charlotte & Paul performed their first dance and a live band entertained their guests as we finally headed home back up the M3.

Andrea & Andy’s wedding at The Highfield Park Hotel

Abby & James were married at the picturesque church in Arborfield before leading on to a reception at Highfield Park in Heckfield. It is one of our favourite venues for wedding photography with a Georgian House set in large grounds with a stone feature which is ideal for intimate photos of the bride & groom away from the crowds at the wedding reception.

Abby & James’ daughter Chloe made a wonderful flower girl and seemed to enjoy her day immensely. Her younger brother Henry made fewer positive comments in between his feeds and sleeps, but he will have a wonderful set of wedding photographs to look through when he’s a little bit older.

Rachel & Chris’ wedding in Winnersh and Wokefield Park

St Catherine’s Church in Winnersh is a great church for wedding photography provided you can cope with very dark interior lighting without using flash – an excellent way to sort out the professional wedding photographers from the amateurs when it comes to challenging locations. The only snag was a little miscommunication where the priest thought the ceremony started at 1pm and everyone else, including Rachel the bride was planning for 1:30pm so there was no time to waste as the priest had an urgent appointment across the road at Bearwood College immediately after the service!

Wedding photography at Wokefield Park is always a pleasure with the fabulous Mansion House and grounds playing host to Rachel, Chris & their guests. We borrowed a golf buggy to drive the couple down to the river for some quiet romantic images before rejoining the guests at the welcome drinks reception. The large grounds at Wokefield Park do now hold a number of football goalposts as it is regularly used for football training sessions by Reading FC so there is a little bit of PhotoShop work required to clone out any posts from the background of the larger group shots where they can’t be avoided.

Rachel’s father’s speech was very entertaining with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation showing images from Rachel’s childhood and various celebrities who may or may not resemble other family members. After a traditional first dance from Rachel & Chris where we captured some wonderful wedding dance photographs, Rachel was joined by her father to perform a twist on a father/daughter dance before Chris was surrounded by most of the hen party in replaying the famous scene from Dirty Dancing. After that it was time for us to leave so we wished them a good night and the party continued until long into the night.

Emma & Bryant wedding at The Royal Berkshire Hotel

The Royal Berkshire Hotel has recently become part of the Exclusive Hotels Group which includes Pennyhill Park and Lainston House so it’s a wonderful venue for weddings and features fantastic grounds for wedding photography around the hotel and in the gardens. Both Emma & Bryant were extremely nervous leading up to the ceremony although Emma told us that Bryant was bound to cry first as he’s such a big softie! In the afternoon we walked around the gardens with the couple and captured some wonderful wedding photographs of the two of them enjoying their fabulous day.

Sophie & Ross’s wedding at The Compleat Angler in Marlow

Sophie and Ross were married at St John the Baptist Church in Little Marlow. Due to the rainy conditions leading up to the wedding and the muddy path leading up to the church, the Bride wore a pair of wellington boots carefully chosen to complement her wedding dress. After the ceremony Sophie was able to change back into more appropriate footwear for their fabulous wedding reception at The Compleat Angler in Marlow.

Andrea & Rob’s Wedding at Pennyhill Park

Andrea & Rob were married at St Anne’s Church in Bagshot on Saturday 23rd July 2011. Andrea looked wonderful in her ivory wedding dress and was escorted to the church by her father Kevin. They walked up the aisle to see Rob looking splendid in his best Royal Marines uniform alongside his brother Lawrence, the best man.

After a lovely ceremony everyone travelled the short distance to the exclusive hotel & spa, Pennyhill Park where a drinks reception made everyone welcome. We captured some wonderful images of Andrea and Rob in the hotel grounds, along with some traditional family group photos and plenty of photographs of their guests enjoying the sunshine. Rob had a number of his “work colleagues” turn out in their Marine uniforms to add to the occasion.

After a fabulous wedding breakfast and speeches by Kevin, Rob, Lawrence AND Andrea, the guests were entertained by the DJ into the early hours.

Many congratulations to the happy couple – it was a truly wonderful day and everyone was very impressed with our images of the day.
